My New Read on WWII

1/21/2012

Maybe I shouldn't say it this way, but oh well I'm not perfect.  I'm a huge fan of WWII, to say that you are a fan of war just doesn't seem right, sorry grandpa, I guess views have changed just a bit since your days.  I respect and love what you did, I'm forever grateful that you and so many amazing people have served in our forces.  No one out there can claim I don't support our troops, I may not agree all the time with what they are fighting for but I'm sure glad they are doing it.  I certainly can't thank all that have served enough, you have given me a better life by doing so.

So one of my goofy hobbies (cause I don't have enough) is that I explore WWII with conviction.  I read everything I can and watch every documentary out there, I scream at the horrible Hollywood movies depicting inaccurate facts over and over for dramatic effect.  So many things about the war/time fascinate me, it seems there are endless lessons to be learned during such an amazing and trying time.  I have read, watched & researched this topic from every view possible.  it's amazing to see the same story unfold in so many different directions, how the actions of one group can affect the other and vice versa.  When new material becomes available I can't wait to dive in, which brings me to my current read, a new book by Craig Shirley called December 1941: 31 Days That Changed America and Saved The World.  I'm only a few chapters in and its an amazing book.  To look back at history with a fresh set of eyes is pretty incredible.

Thanks Mr. Shirley for the great read and for making your son do a lot of the research on this book! :) so I've heard.

Nothing Like A Little Home Brew

1/7/2012

I spent the last two days brewing a couple of beers, one of my favorites is my "Otto Weiss" a classic German wheat beer  and an attempt of replicating Daisy Cutter by Half Acre Beer Company.  Daisy Cutter is one of my favorite local beers and I have named my version "Lawn Darts" an american pale ale with 5 different types of hops.  Speaking of lawn darts what a great game that was. I really miss playing, too bad they are illegal now, looks like I'll be hand crafting my own version of lawn darts now!  :) Another project for the to do list.

If you're a home brewer, here is my recipe for Otto.

    Why Time Released Brilliance?

    In this high paced, technology based life; so often it seems things can change in a second, and life can be taken for granted.  However nothing in life just appears, the naked eye may not see it, or maybe it’s mentally overlooked but everything brilliant takes time.

    Dictionary Explanation
    Time = is a component of the measuring system used to sequence events

    Release = communication with the purpose of announcing something

    Brilliance = exceptional quality
