Nutella Stuffed French Toast…warm orange maple syrup
serves 4
Amount Ingredients 12 slices White bread or brioche 6 oz Nutella brand – chocolate hazelnut spread 4 oz Butter, clarified
batter 5 ea Eggs, whole 2 ½ cups Milk 2 ea Orange, juiced 1 tsp Cinnamon 2 tbsp Sugar, granulated
garnish 8 oz Maple syrup 2 ea Oranges, 1 ea zested, 2 ea peeled and segmented As needed Powdered sugar (optional) As needed Hazelnuts toasted and chopped (optional)
Method: 1. In a large bowl crack and beat the eggs, add milk, sugar, orange juice and cinnamon. Mix together well, set aside.
2. Lay 6 slices of bread out, top with an equal amount of nutella and spread evenly. Place 6 more slices of bread on top, and press together slightly.
3. Over medium to medium low heat melt 1/3 the butter in a large sauté pan.
4. Dip each bread/nutella “sandwich” into the batter and place into the sauté pan. Cook for approximately 3 minutes until golden brown on one side, flip over and cook until golden brown on the other side. Continue until all French toast have been cooked. Make sure to keep one batch warm while other batches are cooking.
5. Warm maple syrup; add orange zest and orange segments, warm through.
To plate: Cut each French toast in half diagonally, serve 3 slices per guest overlapping the slices. Top with toasted and chopped hazelnuts, maple syrup and powdered sugar. Serve and enjoy.
